Quilt Til You Wilt is a quilting dream come to life in a wooded country setting in Hudson Florida. In 1991 Pat Wilkinson started teaching basic quilting classes at Pasco Hernando Community College. After 5 years of teaching at the college Pat’s idea was born to have her own shop closer to home. With her husbands support and her family’s building experience this quilters dream was erected in the back of their multi acre home. Pat now had a large room for her Gammill Quilter machine and enough room for a small classroom area. All of this is just a few steps out of her back door.
Many quilts were created and then quilted on the Gammill between the quilting classes and pattern designing but soon, she realized she needed to expand. In 1997 the shop was doubled in size to make room for over 2000 bolts of fabric, hundreds of books and patterns. It took another 4 years before the need to add a larger classroom became very obvious. In 2001 a large design studio and classroom was added to the back of the shop. Now the dream gets even better! Pat’s husband Walt thought that they should add an Embroidery machine to the shop. The embroidery idea was born and lovingly nurtured along. Today you will find custom quilt labels and quilt blocks being turned out along with a full line of embroidered shirts and tote bags.
Pat Wilkinson is a very experienced quilter and pattern designer who has worked diligently towards building her quilters dream of having her own quilt shop and quilting too. She says that has been stitching since her first projects in 3rd grade and it shows in the many quilts and table runners hanging all over the walls in her shop. Pat has designed 47 quilt patterns which are sold in quilt shops nationwide.
Quilt Til You Wilt is a wonderful 1 tank adventure from most areas in Florida. They have created a lovely country garden with fun art objects, ponds, comfortable swings and chairs for the men to relax in while the quilters shop. Classes are held several days a week in the classroom, but lessons are not limited to what is on the schedule. If you have a project in mind Pat and her assistants are here to help you. The design wall is open to all quilters who need a place to put up their quilt blocks and discuss the possibilities with everyone who is in the shop. Come on by and wander through the 6000 bolts of fabric, check out the patterns and admire the many quilts hanging everywhere.
